About The Event
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT! If you wish to join a waiting list please email info@hastingsbookfest.org with 'Meet the Agent Waiting List' in the title.
Getting personal feedback from a literary agent is gold dust to writers. Agents receive too many submissions to respond in a meaningful way. That’s why each year we offer one-to-one sessions with brilliant agents.
TICKETS
Tickets cost £45, which can be purchased via this page.
HOW IT WORKS
Once your place is secured by purchasing a ticket we will send you details about where to send your submission.
This submission should be the first three chapters of your work, along with a brief (1-2 pages) synopsis, and a cover letter, i.e. normal submission criteria.
NB. The submission must be received by the latest of 5pm on Friday 6th September. Please note that late submissions may not be accepted by the agent.
On the day you will have up to 20 minutes with the agent, where feedback on your work will be discussed, along with advice offered on how to move to the next level in your journey as a writer.
** By purchasing a ticket you are confirming your availability for a 20-minute slot between 10am - 15.30pm on Sunday 15th September, 2024. Exact time slots will be emailed to you.
ABOUT THE AGENT
Louise Buckley has worked in publishing for well over a decade. She was inspired to enter the publishing industry after completing an MA in Creative Writing and then spent a hugely enjoyable year working as a bookseller for Waterstones, wishing that she could have a hand in publishing books.
After a year working at Dorling Kindersley, she then spent almost five years working in the commercial fiction division at Pan Macmillan, where she published a mix of commercial bestsellers and award-winning authors.
Most recently, she was an Associate Literary Agent at Zeno Agency Ltd. As an agent she represented a roster of commercial and literary fiction, including Anne Griffin’s When All is Said, which spent five weeks at number one in Ireland and sold into 17 territories.
